Your masthead is more than a domain.
An archive, a newsletter list, an advertiser base and a reputation took years to build. We look at all of it, not just last month’s pageviews, and we plan the handover so readers and advertisers barely notice the change.

Our Selling Process
Eight clear stages, so the sale is smooth and the brand lands in good hands.
Initial conversation
An informal call about the publication, your goals and timeline. We tell you whether it is ready to sell now or needs preparation first.
Data and verification
We gather traffic, revenue, audience and cost data, check it against analytics, ad network and payment records, and structure it for confidential materials.
Preparation and strategy
We decide together whether to go to market now or improve first, for example by reducing dependence on one traffic source.
Valuation
We price the brand from comparable deals, profit after editorial costs, revenue mix, audience quality and risk. A realistic range, not a flattering one.
Targeted outreach
A short memo goes to a handpicked group of buyers who already acquire media brands like yours. No public listing.
Letter of intent
When terms align, we help both sides sign an LOI covering price, structure and exclusivity.
Due diligence
We support financial, technical, legal and editorial diligence, including domain, content rights, contributor agreements and ad contracts.
Closing and handover
We finalize documents, transfer domains, accounts, social handles and email lists, and plan the editorial transition so audiences and advertisers stay.
What Moves the Price of a Media Brand
Buyers pay for earnings they can verify and audiences they can keep. These are the factors we look at first.
Profit, not just revenue
Net profit after editorial, freelance and hosting costs is the base of most valuations.
Revenue mix
Direct advertisers, subscriptions and sponsorships are valued above revenue that depends on a single network or program.
Traffic sources
Search dependence is the main risk. Direct, newsletter and social traffic earn a better multiple, and so does visible resilience to AI search changes.
Owned audience
Email lists, app users and communities you control reduce risk for a buyer.
Owner dependence
If the founder writes everything and holds every relationship, price drops. Documented workflows and a team that stays raise it.
Archive and rights
Clean ownership of content, images and contributor rights, plus a deep archive that keeps ranking, adds real value.

Common Questions from Publishers
Who can sell a media brand through ALT Media Brands?
Any legitimate publisher with verifiable revenue and an audience. That includes online newspapers, digital magazines, digital publications, business blogs, newsletters, and niche communities, whether run by one person or a full editorial team.
Are you buying the brand yourselves, or only brokering?
Both. ALT Media Brands acquires digital media brands directly, and we also introduce owners to other vetted buyers when another buyer is a better fit. We tell you at the start which role we are playing on your deal, so you always know who is on the other side of the table.
How do you prepare a digital media brand for sale?
We review at least twelve months (preferably up to three years) of revenue and costs, traffic by source, audience and subscriber data, advertiser and contributor agreements, and technical setup. Once validated, we present the brand clearly and credibly so buyers understand what they are getting.
How long does a sale take?
Smaller brands can close in three to four months. Mid-sized publications usually take four to six. Multi-title or multi-jurisdiction deals take longer. Clean data and fast responses shorten the timeline more than anything else.
Will my staff, advertisers and readers be told?
Not until you decide. The process is confidential: buyers sign an NDA before seeing identifying details, and we agree on a communication plan for staff, contributors, and advertisers before announcing anything.
What if my traffic mostly comes from Google?
You can still sell, but buyers will price in the risk. Showing growth in direct, email, and social audiences and documenting how your content performs in AI-powered search helps protect the valuation. Also, owning a large newsletter and a community would increase the valuation.
How does the referral process work?
You introduce us to a publisher considering a sale. If that company completes a transaction with us, we compensate you. You do not have to manage the deal.
Can you sell for $7M if my brands make $1M in revenue?
Not if the numbers do not support it. We analyze revenue, profit, audience, and growth realistically and tell you plainly what range to expect. It is not always what owners want to hear, but it is what they need to hear before going to market.
My brand has huge potential. Can we price it on that?
Buyers pay for what the brand is today, plus a premium when the numbers already show where it is headed. If the potential is real, it should be visible in growth, retention, or pricing power.
